OUR HISTORY

The original farm was started in 1954 by James and Edna Huggett, who grew Peppermint and Spearmint on the farm. Sod production started on the farm in 1965, and the tree nursery was started in 1975. Jim and Edna raised 5 children, one of which, Paul, is current owner of the farm.

Paul A. Huggett graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1987 with a bachelors degree in Horticulture and a emphasis in business. Paul and his wife Shelly are the proud parents of two active children. Paul participates in several trade associations. He is currently the Wisconsin Turfgrass Association Treasurer, Wisconsin Nursery Association board member and past President of the Wisconsin Sod Producers Association and the Wisconsin Nursery Association. Long Island Farm is also a member of Turfgrass Producers International.
