OUR HISTORY

The original farm was started in 1954 by James and Edna Huggett, who grew Peppermint and Spearmint on the farm. Sod production started on the farm in 1965, and the tree nursery was started in 1975. Jim and Edna raised 5 children, one of which, Paul, is current owner of the farm.

Paul A. Huggett graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1987 with a bachelors degree in Horticulture and a emphasis in business.
Paul and his wife Shelly are the proud parents of two active children. Paul participates in several trade associations. He is currently a Wisconsin Turfgrass Association member, Wisconsin Nursery Association board member and past President of the Wisconsin Sod Producers Association. Paul's is also a member of: Turfgrass Producers International, Mid America Sod Growers Association, the Midwest Sod Council, and the Illinois Turfgrass Foundation.

A few years ago we launched this website for our business. It didn’t take long for people in Long Island, NY to find us; the problem is we don’t actually ship to Long Island. For 50 years we’ve been very successful right here in Dane county Wisconsin and we intend to keep it that way, so to make things more clear we’re rolling out a new name. Long Island Farm is now , Paul's Turf & Tree Nursery, Inc. Same location, same owners, same thriving business, just a name that makes
more sense. We look forward to selling the same high quality turf and trees you expect. We look forward to seeing you this spring.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon
Paul
